Nueve was found as a stray with a broken leg and was brought to a high-kill Texas shelter.

 

We brought Nueve into the rescue and he immediately underwent ortho surgery to try to save his leg, but unfortunately, the surgery was not successful due to too many bone fragments that would not fuse. Nueve then underwent a second amputation surgery, from which he is healing very well. Despite his sad beginnings, Nueve is an active happy puppy that loves people and was ready to get back into playing just days after his second surgery. Even though he is now a tripod, he has no mobility issues and will be able to walk and run and hike just like any other dog! Being a relatively small frame at just under 40lbs, his remaining 3 legs are not likely to be impacted even in the long run by taking on the additional weight. Nueve is crate (he can be a bit fussy due to having to spend a lot of time in crate rest but settles down)/leash/potty trained and loves toys and picking things up around the house in his mouth (shoes, grocery bags, etc.).
