Delphi is a precious little border collie who has had a rough start in life. She had to be treated for heartworms when coming to ABC, as well as had to have all her shots, spay, and chip. Now that she is healthy, she is so ready to find a family to call her own.
Delphi needs continued work on leash, but is crate trained and house-broken. She has not shown a lot of ball or toy interest, but once she has her own family to spend time with her, she may shown more interest. She does like to settle in to chew on bones.
Delphi was probably not socialized well in her early life and is not good with all dogs. She tends to have an alpha personality, so she challenges dogs that might try to challenge her. But, she lives peacefully with dogs that are submissive, so she could definitely be in a home with another dog with that personality. She has not been tested with cats, but our feeling is that she would probably be best without kitties.
Are you the family to give this girl her new start in life? You can apply to adopt her or to do a foster-to-adopt on the web site. A home visit will be done. Her adoption donation is $300 to help defray the cost of getting her healthy. She is currently fostering in the Houston area.
